Magna Kainan

If you’re planning a dinner out in Denver that feels both special and culturally enriching, Magna Kainan in RiNo is a standout choice. Though it’s still building its reputation, this restaurant brings serious intent to Filipino cuisine — making it a compelling pick for locals looking for something a little different.

Magna Kainan is the Denver outpost of acclaimed Filipino-fusion chef Carlo Lamagna (Food & Wine’s 2021 Best New Chef & a 2022 James Beard finalist) together with Denver partner Max Mackissock. Their stated mission is to take Filipino comfort food, apply a refined, wood-fired technique and contemporary styling, and offer something that both honors tradition and pushes a little forward.

Located in Denver’s RiNo art district, Magna Kainan is near a great rooftop cocktail bar Sorry Gorgeous that makes for a great post-dinner nightcap. This is an ideal spot for a night out that feels a little more elevated than the typical restaurant and bar, but retains a lively, social vibe that will keep your date upbeat and fun.
