The 88 Drive-In Theatre

Tucked in Commerce City but firmly part of the Denver scene, this classic locally-owned outdoor theatre has been showing double features since 1971 and still operates much the same way: park, tune your car radio to the FM broadcast, and settle in under the stars.

What makes the 88 Drive-In Theatre one of my favorite spots is the combination of affordability and atmosphere. The theater typically offers at least two current films for one low price. Admission is $10 dollars per person whether you stay for one or both features, with children under 12 free.

Classic neon, the sound coming through your FM dial, car-side coziness, and the feeling of stepping back to a simpler night out — you’ll find a genuine hometown charm that feels important to preserve. I try to make it a point to come here at least three times a summer.
